An update from Phil about all the changes that have taken place this fall, his appointment as the national director, his travels and some of the things God is placing on his heart.

1st Thoughts On The New Adventure

Hey my dear friends,

I thought it might be good to update you on some pretty interesting things that have happened over the last few months culminating in last weeks decision to appoint me as the next national director of the Vineyard movement. To say the least, I am humbled and I am profoundly honored that my colleagues have entrusted such a responsibility to Janet and I. I am not confused about my part in all of this, God must move, act, respond, and empower or I am toast. I know where the line is and I stay on my side.

So what are we facing right now? Janet and I will be walking with Pathway Vineyard as we navigate new territory as I transition into the responsibilities of the National Director. We will also naturally transition out of the responsibilities as the Senior Pastors of Pathway Vineyard. This is a process and a transition for which I do not have a timeline right now. I have already started of course in thinking through some of the next steps for the Vineyard movement nationally but at the same time I have the profound responsibility to walk a church that is dear to my soul through a change of leadership. As of right now, I intend to work out of the office here in Maine, and of course will be making numerous trips to Houston. So really, I would solicit your prayers as we walk this out.

Let me share a closing thought for this first blog since this appointment. I do not know where this journey takes us. But one this I am very clear about, Janet and I over the last 36 years have kept trying to say “yes” in every intersection we have come to withGod and His kingdom. I am amazed at the faithfulness of God, His kindness, His generosity, His empowerment and if this appointment brings Glory to His name, then at the end of the day I will be a happy camper. If the wellbeing of people has been increase, then we will know God’s kingdom advances.

Deepest respect,

Phil Strout

What does it mean to be a servant leader? Is this an area of potential spinout for leaders in the Body of Christ? What did Jesus say about it?  This video introduces the topic of “Servant” as one of the s-turns leaders must navigate in order to stay in the course and finish well.
